From free elections and peaceful transfers of power to sweeping
reforms, Latin America has seen tremendous progress over the
past two decades. It is no accident that this sweeping, historic
shift is taking place in an era of rapid globalization and legal
harmonization. Indeed, amid counteracting political shifts, there
are strong reasons to expect this growing trend toward legal and
institutional reform will only continue. What better time, then, to
host the first global event of its kind to look at the future of
economic progress and the rule of law in Latin America. That’s
the goal of this groundbreaking meeting – comprehensive views
    and practical approaches.

THE EVENTSponsored by LexisNexis, Economic Development
and the Rule of Law in Latin America will be held from
September 13-14 at México City’s The Gran Meliá México Reforma
Hotel. Accorded Four-Diamond status from the American
Automobile Association, The Gran Meliá México Reforma Hotel
is located just 20 minutes from the airport in the heart of México
City’s beautiful historic zone. In this relaxed and elegant setting,
lawyers, justices and leaders from around the world will meet in
both formal and informal settings, with all the dining and leisure
    amenities of a four-star hotel.

THE PROGRAM:   With some the world’s leading experts as
presenters, and equally expert facilitators, the goal is an open but
guided dialogue designed to surface fresh perspectives and new
thinking – from all quarters. Sessions will include:

The experience of foreign direct investment in Latin America
  • Local law, arbitration and bilateral investment treaty
  • Local & international credit & secured lending transactions for small and medium-sized businesses
  • Intellectual property
  • Antitrust & monopolistic practices
  • Alternative dispute resolution in international trade & investment
  • Rule of law reform, human rights & economic development

THE PARTICIPANTS:  The event will bring together a host of
world-leading legal organizations, as well as numerous Bar
Associations from Latin America and the Caribbean basin with
a wealth of complimentary expertise in each of the areas of
     discussion.
